Human nature being what it is, when you let your foot off the brakes and the whining stops, you ignore it. Bad move!! Stop Whining Already You won’t be the first person to ignore whiny brakes. Typically, this is a sure sign of worn out brake pads. In layman’s terms, the brake pads press against the inside of the wheel and slow down or stop the vehicle. A vehicle owner (we’ll call her Susan) was driving her car home from work and in quick succession, she found herself driving over a bad stretch of road. Before she knew it, she drove her car over a pothole. First she heard a loud “Thump” as the car rolled in and out of what was apparently a large hole on the interstate. Then she heard an equally load “clicking” sound from the under-carriage and it seemed like her vehicle was pulling to the left. Symptoms of a flat tire? Perhaps. Susan immediately pulled over. To her credit, she inspected for damage: A flat tire? Debris under the vehicle? Oil and or gas spillage? Possibly all three? Luckily for Susan, the tire wasn’t fat. But she was prepared! In the trunk, she had a properly inflated spare tire, a jack, tools, a safety vest and emergency flares. She was a ... read more
